Every country has its own favourite historical epics that are given regular television screenings and have legions of faithful fans. In Poland, that canon includes Knights of the Teutonic Order and Colonel Wolodyjowski. One such Lithuanian film is Northern Crusades (Herkus Mantas), an epic costume drama telling the story of the most famous Prussian leader who fought against the Teutonic Order. Running for over two hours, this epic transports us back to a time of mediaeval battles, heroic deeds and true friendship. Made in 1972, the film was a huge success in Soviet-occupied Lithuania, where Herkus and his heroic struggles with the Teutonic Knights came to symbolise the fight against the Communist regime.

The Lithuanian Film Centre commissioned us to do image remastering, colour correction and mastering work on this incredible film, and we thank them for trusting us!
