Była sobie piosenka
“Red Poppies on Monte Cassino” is a song that has become a symbol. Its origins were linked to the Battle of Monte Cassino. Later, it traveled along winding paths to the Vistula River. There, it won the hearts of Poles, but its postwar fate was far from easy. Over time, the song’s symbolism evolved. What remains of it today? In the film, reflection on the song “Red Poppies” and its history is combined with reflection on collective memory. The story is told through archival materials, film excerpts, the recollections of participants in the Battle of Monte Cassino, and expert commentary.
